Christmas with Christ

We often worry about how to celebrate Christmas in a balanced way. How do we enjoy all the culture and festivities of Christmas while still remembering the real "reason for the season?"

While you don't need to spend ANY money to teach your family about Christ, good resources can be so helpful. I have compiled some lists of products, prints, subscriptions, and toys that will help you keep your Christmas centered on Christ.

These small businesses and artists are worth supporting!

Christ-Focused Books

  1. See Christ in Christmas (12 Symbols of Christmas)  This BEAUTIFUL book highlights 12 symbols that help us find Christ in Christmas. It is a great way to teach young kids about the true meaning of Christmas! (And the illustrations are SO beautiful! I can’t say enough about them!)
  2. Palm & Fig Books. I am so in love with these books. The illustrations are stunning, but what I love even more is how simple the messages are. My kids actually get it! I can see them connecting to Christ through the words and pictures in these books.
  3. “Who’s Your Hero?” by David Bowman. David Bowman gets kids. He makes the scriptures come alive! I know so many families who swear by these as a way to get their kids involved in scripture reading.
  4. Norman the Latter-Day Saint Books. These books have clear, easy messages and darling pictures. We read the nursery one often to help my son prepare for his time there. These are also great in a sacrament meeting bag!
  5. Primary Scriptures. These are the main way my kids get involved in scripture study. Each page only
  6. Savior-The Story of Jesus Christ. There are only a few of these beautiful books left before their next order gets off those crazy backed-up ships in December so hurry fast if you want one in time for Christmas! (Or wait and get one for Easter!)

Christ-Focused Art

  1. Lighten Print. Christ surrounded by the children of the Earth. Check out this print shop’s other prints as well!
  2. The Color Amber. This beautiful print of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus would be so sweet to display during the Christmas season. This artist has many other Christ-focused prints available.
  3. Brooklyn Swenson. Brooklyn describes her art as ‘Modern Folk Art.’ Her brightly colored prints are great for children.
  4. ColorlyLove. This print is minimal, tender, and comes with many color options. It would make such a sweet gift.
  5. Brittany Ngyuen Art. I love her description of this piece. A unique and beautiful scene from Christ’s birth involving Mary, Christ, and Heavenly Mother.
  6. Esther Hi’ilani Candari. Beautiful fine art piece. I love the idea of giving my children art that depicts other children.

Christ-Focused Toys

  1. Fig Littles PlayKits. These magnetic, interactive PlayKits are scripture-themed and imagination heavy. They give you the opportunity to really get your kids involved in the scriptures! Keep an eye out for their Nativity Kit coming back soon! Use code CFMT10 for 10% off!
  2. Book of Mormon Matching Game. Even if your child is too young for a game of “Memory,” this matching game will teach them to spot and interact with BoM characters and then pair them up.
  3. My Book of Mormon Quiet Book. Quiet way to practice fine motor skills while engaging with scripture themes!
  4. Kanga Toys. Scripture-themed water books that can be used over and over again. These books are high quality and perfect for sacrament meeting. (No noise and no mess!)

Subscriptions

If you are a grandparent, friend, or other family-member looking for a meaningful gift for a family in your life, you might consider gifting them a subscription! Sign up under their name and email, using your credit card. Let them know how long you will be paying for their subscription!

  1. Come Follow Me Diner Jar This one is genius! It is a jar of CFM-related prompts that you can pull out around the dinner table (or any time your family is gathered). Old Testament prompts coming soon!
  2. Come Follow Me Toddlers. This is my own subscription. Good for ages 2-6 you will receive an entire month of activities and pages to go with them. I focus on little-to-no-prep, movement-based activities.
  3. ColorlyLove. I have my own subscription and I STILL subscribe to Colorly Love. The coloring pages and activities are simple and possible. I used this often when I taught Sr. Primary.
  4. LDS Coloring Pages. A coloring page subscription with a CFM focus. Great for older and younger kids!

Advent & Nativity

  1. Wood Christmas Nativity in 12 Days. We used this last year and it was the BEST way to do advent with small children. With unpredictable toddlers it is hard to do something every day. We spread our 12 days out throughout the month and managed to be successful that way. The stories and pieces are beautiful!
  2. 25-Day Paper Advent with Scriptures. A christ-focused way to countdown to Christmas!
  3. Felt Nativity Kit. This felt kit by J.M. Porium is beautiful and interactive. The felt is thick, high-quality and will certainly be an heirloom piece for your family!
  4. 25 Days of Christ Ornament Set. 25 beautiful ornaments to decorate your tree as you study the story of Christ’s birth.
  5. Names of Christ Advent. Not only does this advent teach the names of Christ, but it comes with a daily quote, coloring page, and devotional. Your kids can color while they listen!
  6. Wooden Peg Doll Nativity. This shop is accepting final orders on November 15, so hurry if you want an interactive, handmade way for your child to experience the story of the nativity.
